In an excellent example of how brands and bands can help each other, the well-known sneaker brand Vans partnered up with well-known band Bad Religion for an in-store gift-with-purchase to promote the band’s album "The Dissent of Man." When customers purchased a qualifying item at Footaction stores, they were given a free download of 3 of the album’s tracks. By incorporating a custom landing page, Vans and Bad Religion were able to request email address to initiate downloading. The collected email addresses utilized via Bad Religion’s mailing list to notify users when the album dropped.
